What does the future hold for a person who is saved?

God tells us in His Holy word the Bible that when we receive His free gift of Salvation, then our life changes. It has become something different to what it was before we were saved. The first thing that the future holds for a person who accepts God's free gift of Salvation is that, from that moment onward, that person has become a son or a daughter of the living God. In the Gospel of John 1:12. we learn. But as many as received Him {The Lord Jesus Christ}, to them He {The Lord Jesus Christ} gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His {The Lord Jesus Christ} name. John 1:12.          Then in 2Corinthians 5:17 we learn. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2Corinthians 5:17.

We see from these two passages of Scripture that the future has immediately changed in two ways for the person who has become a believer. First they have become a son or daughter of God and as such are no longer of this world, but have become a citizen of Heaven. They have become a new creation in Christ, this means that they have become a different person from the person that they were before they were saved. They no longer now live a sinful life to please themselves, but they begin to turn away from their sinful ways, and they begin to live their life to please God.

The person who has been saved no longer has a future which ends in death, because at the moment of their salvation, the Holy Spirit filled their heart, and they  passed from death not just into life, but into eternal life.

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life. John 5:24.

Notice from this passage, that the person who has become a believer does not have to wait to receive the gift of everlasting life, they already have it. So we see here that when a person receives God's free gift of Salvation they receive a lot of blessings from God, and they look to the future where they will receive a lot more. I am reminded of that wonderful verse in Jeremiah 11:29. which says.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11.

A believer has the most wonderful future to look forward to in this life and in the life to come, for the promises of God are sure and certain and will come to pass just as God has said that they will. When a believers life on this earth is over, then, that is when life eternal begins. In the book of Revelation which is the last book of the New Testament, and in the book of Isaiah which is in the Old Testament God has given us a glimpse of what that life will be like.

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then He who sat on the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said to me, Write, for these words are true and faithful. And He said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. Revelation 21:1-7.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, The leopard shall lie down with the young goat, The calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; Their young ones shall lie down together; And the lion shall eat straw like the ox.

The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole, And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD As the waters cover the sea. Isaiah 11:6-9.

This is what the future holds for those who are saved. What a bright and beautiful future God has in store for those who love Him.                                           God says in Proverbs 8:17.

I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me. Proverbs 8:17

Seek the Lord while He may be found, He may not pass your way again.
